Cameron is the Director of Iris, the Spencer Pride Youth Group. She was elected to lead Iris by the teens in mid-2019 & was added to the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting in August.

UPDATE:  Unfortunately, due to the precautions in place to prevent further transmission of the COVID-19 virus, this event has been cancelled.  Stay tuned for updates on how we plan to keep in touch with our youth via alternate methods online.  Thank you for your understanding.

Spencer Pride’s Youth Group, Iris, had a successful first alternative prom, “Under the Rainbow,” in 2019. With the prom being such a hit, plans for year two are already underway. The kids, alongside their PFLAG parents, will soon be getting ready for this special event.

The proposed theme for this year’s alternative prom is currently “MasQUEERade” to symbolize the luxe 1920’s feeling.  The event will take place on Saturday, April 25th.  Doors open at 7 PM.

This year’s event will be held at a more centralized location in Bloomington. The thought behind this is to make the location more accessible to the surrounding youth groups we invite such as Monroe County, Morgan County, and  Bartholomew County.

Being that this is a free event, it would not be at all possible without the support and generous donations from community members and local businesses. If interested in making any form of contribution feel free to contact our Youth Empowerment Director, Joy Hellman, at Joy@SpencerPride.org.
