I began volunteering with Spencer Pride in 2014, as a straight ally. Within a month, I was asked to join the Board of Directors. I was also chosen as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2014 and recognized at the Festival. I am not certain when I became Secretary. I have tabled at numerous events. I also traveled to Detroit, Michigan with Spencer Pride officers and to InterPride World Conference in Athens, Greece with Jonathan and Jacob.

My biggest contribution to Spencer Pride is my work on legislative issues with members of the Indiana General Assembly. I also spend time training public school employees about how and why they should be allies to LGBTQ+ people. I am working on my PhD at Indiana State University in Curriculum and Instruction, Media Technology (CIMT). I am working on a dissertation regarding working with public school employees and students about LGBTQ+ issues in order to gain more allies.
