Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about how you can help us continue our work to make Indiana a more welcoming place for ALL people.
Spencer Pride is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that is 100% volunteer-powered. We work collectively, by engaging our community, to help make Indiana a more welcoming place for ALL people.
- We educate the public about rural lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, & queer (LGBTQ+) people & issues.
- We provide a voice for the LGBTQ+ community to help foster an environment where there is no disparagement in opportunity simply because of one’s gender expression, sexual orientation, or related perceptions of the same.
- We welcome everyone to join us as we continue to cultivate a community of compassion & celebration for all people.
Spencer Pride runs an LGBTQ+ community center, coordinates the annual Spencer Pride Festival, & provides a variety of educational services. We also have our own youth group, called Iris!
OUR COMMUNITY CENTER
The commUnity center is the main headquarters of Spencer Pride’s educational efforts. It is also the home of Unity, our distinctive retail shop that showcases local artists & craftspeople. The commUnity center is a certified Safe Place & an LGBTQ+ Safe Zone.
We will be expanding the center. This will allow us to greatly increase our educational services. We will also provide free meeting space for local, affirming, not-for-profit organizations. Our center is currently located at 17 E. Franklin Street in downtown Spencer in a historic building on the courthouse square.
Unity is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM until 7 PM.
When we opened the commUnity center in September 2016, Spencer, Indiana, became the smallest town in America with an LGBTQ+ center. We are very proud of this milestone for our community.
The Spencer Pride Festival is an admission-free rural LGBTQ+ pride festival that takes place on the square of the Owen County Courthouse in Spencer, Indiana. The Spencer Pride Festival is the largest rural LGBTQ+ pride event in the state, & Spencer is the smallest town in the Midwest with such a large LGBTQ+ pride event! The Spencer Pride Festival takes place on the first Saturday in June each year. It is known for its family-friendly & inclusive atmosphere, all in a small town setting.
In order to continue offering vital services to our community, we are requesting financial support from you. A key way to do this is to become a sponsor of one or more of our programs. Sponsors will be recognized in a variety of ways. Funding will be used to support our commUnity center, to continue providing educational services to the public, & to aid in the continuance of our well-known & well-respected annual events.
Please contact us if you wish to become a sponsor. You can reach us via e-mail at info@SpencerPride.org or via telephone at 812-652-5000. If you wish, we can also meet you at our commUnity center to show you the space & walk you through the opportunities that you can help make a reality.
On behalf of the Spencer Pride Board of Directors & our passionate volunteers, I thank you for your consideration to help us achieve our goal of making Indiana a more welcoming place for ALL people.
