The men of IlluMENate hosted their 2012 Condom Fashion Show on Thursday evening at the Collins Living-Learning Center on the Campus of Indiana University in Bloomington. Designers representing a variety of organizations created condom-based outfits that were then modeled and judged during the show. We are happy to say that the Spencer Pride outfit, designed by volunteer Jacob Balash, won the contest!
All of the designs submitted and modeled for the show were created with hundreds of condoms and had to fall into one of four categories. Jacob’s creation was submitted for the ‘Men’s Evening Wear’ category. There were approximately 8 designs that were modeled during the event.
Our model was Bobby Burnette, who is also one of our Spencer Pride volunteers. Bobby represented the organization well with his professional and sexy presentation of the outfit during the fashion show.
When the overall winner was announced for the contest, one of the other designers was named in error. Thankfully, she – along with the judges – supported a “recount.” This second-look at the scores revealed that the numbers had accidentally been grouped with the wrong contestants for the ‘overall’ score. With it clear that Jacob’s design had been the judges’ favorite, he was then presented with the award and accepted it happily.
The membership of Spencer Pride Inc. would like to thank Jacob for his hard work and dedication to creating a spectacular outfit for the show. We would also like to thank our model Bobby for his fabulous presentation of the outfit at the show.
Condom Fashion Week was sponsored by the Indiana State Department of Health HIV/AIDS Division and B Condoms.
