In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Spencer Pride Board of Directors has made the difficult, but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Spencer Pride Festival that had been postponed until October 17. We are saddened by this cancellation but committed to doing our part to keep our community safe. This decision was made in consultation with the Owen County Health Department.
At the same time, we are excited to announce that we are expanding our Pride Week festivities. We will be hosting a variety of virtual and (limited capacity) in-person events aimed to educate the public, celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and continue our work to develop long-term partnerships and support for our mission.
Although we cannot share details at this time, please ensure that Spencer Pride Week remains on your calendars for October 12-18. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to engage with us in community-building, learning, sharing, and celebration.
For more information about the cancellation and to get a small preview of our new plans, please attend our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, August 2 at 4 PM (EST). The event will be broadcast on Zoom (for those who wish to interact) and will be live-streamed on the Spencer Pride Facebook Page.
