Julie Seibert, a new volunteer with Spencer Pride, was one of the individuals who participated in the Multi-Generational Tea event coordinated by the Prism Youth Community – Bloomington. The event was held on Saturday, January 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington. Julie wrote this summary of her experience. Julie was joined by volunteers Dorothy Oliver & Shea Finnegan at the event.
This was my first opportunity to volunteer for Spencer Pride at an event hosted by the Prism Youth Community of Bloomington and I was impressed by the attendees of the day. The conversations as well as the “ice breaker” game were a great way to get to know the many youth involved with this community.
The break-out events were Reading Body Language, Lying Dice Game, Jewelry Making, Learning to Yo Yo, Technology Education, Wii Video, Video Dancing and making Valentine Cards for nursing homes and Veterans. Snacks and laughter were plentiful during the time of fellowship!
Many of those who attended are looking forward to the Bloomington Pride Film Festival coming up (January 28-30) as well as the Winter Rainbow Ball (February 26th). Thank you to the many participants for the beautiful cards made for our community.
Note: Spencer Pride is an official sponsor of the 2016 Winter Rainbow Ball.
