Finding Peace, Love, and Joy in Community

  • by

Spring is here, and there are early seasonal flowers blooming, trees budding, and the world around us is slowly greening. Growth is the theme everywhere, and that opportunity exists for us, as well.  With the constant negative news coming at us 24/7, it’s incumbent for our own wellness that each of us learn how to embrace a more peaceful, joyful, and loving life. Thankfully, Spencer Pride has a program with this purpose: Rainbow Sunday Circle. Rainbow Sunday Circle is a monthly gathering that explores spirituality without religious dogma.

Rainbow Sunday Circle is led by Reverand Karen Williams.  Williams and her wife have lived in South Central Indiana for the past few years, and were first introduced to Spencer Pride a couple of years ago.

“When I first visited the Spencer Pride CommUnity Center, I immediately felt I could be a part of an amazing caring community,” says Williams. “After a year of being around wonderful diverse people, I wanted us to share our practices in living a more peaceful, joyful and loving life no matter what is happening in the world.”

And with that, the monthly Rainbow Sunday Circle was born.  More than a year since its launch, the program sees regular participation from folks seeking a safe space to talk freely and walk away with tips on how to step into being a more peaceful version of themselves. How’s it been working out?

“It’s working for me as I continue exploring the best version of myself,” Williams says with a smile.

A few participants of Rainbow Sunday Circle were asked about their experience. This is what we heard from them:

“I look forward to our monthly gathering.  It means so much to me that we can come together during these troubled times in the world and encourage each other.”

“The Rainbow Sunday Circle discussions have helped me throw off some of my most limiting thoughts and beliefs and have a more peaceful life.”

“The Rainbow Sunday Circle experience often gives me a new perspective on what is happening in my life.  Those little adjustments can make a big shift.”

“I like the authentic talk at the Rainbow Sunday Circle and that the discussion grows organically as we share information with the group.”

“It’s important to me that the Rainbow Sunday Circle discussion is without judgment or religious dogma.  I find it gives real tips on how to have a more peaceful mind.”

Rainbow Sunday Circle meets on the third Sunday of each month at 3 PM at the Spencer Pride commUnity center. Participation is free and no advance registration is required. To learn more about Rainbow Sunday Circle, reach out to Williams at Karen@SpencerPride.org.
